I came across an ad for these guys in my latest issue of Relevant Magazine. I love the idea behind what they do - a car club committed to living with less so we can give more. Here is what they say on their site:

The Junky Car Club is a community of people who are happy drivers that are politely rebelling against consumerism. We just think life is a lot better when you spend your dough on others and not on some pimped out ride.

I currently drive a 97 Buick so I guess that qualifies me as part of the club. God leads everyone differently but I’ve always been amazed at how much people are willing to spend on brand new vehicles just because they’re the latest and greatest. At the very least we should all be willing to drive a car that is at least a year or two old to save the thousands of dollars you lose when you drive a new car off the lot. When we live with an others-focused life we can see past our own wants and be able to meet the needs of those around us.

By the way, if you support the values behind the Junky Car Club and drive a junker yourself you can sign up at their web site - www.junkycarclub.com.
