The Devil Came On Horseback

POSTED IN: Makes You Think, Social Justice

The Devil Came On HorsebackI just finished watching the documentary on the atrocities in Darfur called The Devil Came On Horseback. This film exposes the tragedy taking place in Darfur as seen through the eyes of an American witness who has since returned to the US to take action to stop it. While in Sudan monitoring a cease-fire former U.S. Marine Captain Brian Steidle observed first-hand the horrors of the mass genocides taking place.

Brian took literally thousands of pictures documenting the rapes and murders. I saw photos of young children who were chained to posts and burned alive. It made me both incredibly sad and furious at the same time.

To date over 400,000 people have been killed and over 2.5 million have been displaced from their homes. Women have been brutally raped as part of the systematic destruction of their society and the fabric of their culture is being torn apart.

This has happened before in Rwanda while the world did nothing. It’s happening again.

I’m constantly challenging the process - examining what I do, why I do it and its relevance in today’s progressive culture. read more
