I have a frickin long way to go
Post Category: Authenticity

I was in a conversation the other day about our upcoming church plant.
My emotions were running high and I was feeling frustrated that I wasn’t getting my point across. At one point in the conversation I said,
“Come on! We’re planting frickin church here!”
Planting a frickin church? Did I just say that in reference to a church plant?
I realize more and more each day that I’m not there yet.
It appears that God is still working on my frickin mouth.

This post is kind of unclear…
You seem to imply that “frickin” is a bad word. And then you go ahead and keeep typing it.
If it is, why keep saying it? If it’s not, then what’s the big deal?
Not to get preachy… you know I love you but remember Romans 6:1? Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not!
Good question Jason. I wasn’t trying to refer to what I said as much as my poor judgment. Is frickin or darn a bad word? That’s purely cultural since they aren’t specifically mentioned by verse in the Bible and in some cultures words have completely different meanings.
I’m not condoning or condemning those kind of words as much as I’m trying to raise the point that we don’t often think enough about what we say and whether we’re using good judgment.
Obviously this issue can be debated from both sides. It’s just one of those things.

Obviously, you’re in need of a Communications Director for the new church plant. Lemme know whenever you’re freakin’ hiring…

I love church planting. What a great way to live up to the great commission. I’m excited to see what God does through you.
