Ok, that was stupid

My Scrape
Did you ever do something where you felt really stupid and you looked around to make sure no one saw you do it? Yeah, that was me this morning.

I had bought some new coffee and left it in the car.  It’s Saturday morning so I wanted to make a good cup of coffee to wake me up so I threw on some shoes and ran out to the car to grab the coffee.

There must have have been a very thin layer of ice on the sidewalk because just as I was rounding the corner my feet slid out from under me. For a brief moment I was airborne with my arms and legs extended in every direction. If you could have taken a picture at exactly that moment it would have probably been pretty funny.

After my one second of flight I hit the ground, skidding on my arm and banging my knee. I haven’t had this kind of scrape since I was a kid learning how to ride my bike. I did a quick look around to make sure nobody saw my incredibly uncoordinated fall and slowly limped back to the house cursing under my breath.

What was the last stupid thing you did? Come on, help me feel better.

I had just gotten out of the shower and as I was getting dressed I slipped on a wet spot on the floor. This caused me to fall and hit my side on the toilet. I had bruised my ribs pretty bad and when I came out of the bathroom my wife just started laughing at me.

A week or so ago I was in the pit at work. The pump that drains the oil oil out of the vats wasn’t working and I was asked to fix it. I opened the one end and felt around to see if something was stuck. Nothing really. So I removed on of the hoses off of the pump and turned it on.
I then proceeded to put my hands over the two open ends and see if there was suction. There was. As I removed my hands, really old oil shot out of both end and literally drenched my pants. Everyone laughed. It was great. Should’ve seen it coming.

I always half slide whenever I’m outside in the winter. It prevents spills and let’s face it – It’s more fun.

And you forgot about the story way back… shaving, Meijer, etc…. :)

I love my family more than anything but I still struggle to keep my passions and priorities in order. I’m passionate about the Church, its influence on culture, and making it better. I’m constantly challenging the process - examining what I do, why I do it and its relevance in today’s progressive culture. read more
