How Big Is Your Beard?

A new friend on Twitter posted a link to this and I just have to share this with you.

Have you heard of the World Beard & Moustache Championships? According to Wikipedia it is a “biennial competition in which men with beards and moustaches display length, highly-styled facial hair.” The first championship of its type took place in 1991.

They even have their own theme song (click play below).

In the 3 brackets of facial hair (Moustache, Partial Beard, and Full Beard) categories include Imperial Moustache, Garibaldi, Hungarian Moustache, Sideburns Freestyle, Musketeer, and Freestyle Moustache.

I promise you I am not making this up.

It turns out you can compete in just about anything these days. Which got me thinking, I wonder if I could be good at this? Here are a few of the styles I was thinking about trying out for.

    That is SOOOOO scary!! YIKES!!! Really, sometimes you have to wonder how bored people really are…how do you find this stuff??
    On a side note, I’d go dali if I were you (out of the choices given). That way you can twist your mustache and laugh maniacally. lol

    The hungarian moustache makes you look like Sam Elliot in Tombstone. The dali makes you look fancy yet crazy at the same time.

    I’d stay around from the Garibaldi- it makes you look, well, like a friend of dorothy. But the imperial evens it out by making you look like a notorious serial killer from the 1930’s.

    Brad, I like the fact that your blogs either completely crack me up-as in todays or really make me think about my Christianity. I feel you have a good balance in what you present to us. I think you need one os those little satanic goatee things!

    I wish I had known. Today my wife was like, “When are you going to shave your beard and trim those sideburns?” I could have been like, “Woman, I’m trying to bring home the trophy, don’t mess with the stache.”

    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that Lisa is NOT allowing any beard growing to take place!

    However, if that is her thing, well… I’d have to suggest the Garibaldi Full Beard. It has a Grizzly Adams meets northern Michigan lumberjack sort of appeal to it.

    This ranks right up there with the whole Mowhawk phase you went through a while back…

    I think the Dali one makes you look French. Ah, mas oui! Je pense que le moustache est tres beau. :) (or something like that)

    (BTW, I noticed that you got a “special limited edition” backwards Starbucks cup when you took the picture that’s on your blog page! That…..or you flipped it.) ;)
