Get Your Grav On

POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Blogging, Technology

I just added a feature to my blog that I should have added a LONG time ago. This new feature is called Gravatars, which stand for “Globally Recognized Avatars.” Pull that one out at your next dinner party if you want to impress the socks off someone (or let them know how big of a geek your really are).

In simple terms, Gravatar allows you to associate a small photo of yourself so when you comment on a blog your avatar appears. It’s simple and can be set up in less than 2 minutes.

So what are you waiting for? Go get your Gravatar on! Then come back and leave a comment so we can put a face with a name!

OK, I just did my Gravatar and it shows up fine in my account – everything appears to be set up correctly, so I’m confused about why I’m nothing more than a generic gray box here.

@juliepersinger – If you just set it up it may take 30 minutes or so to show up. Check back on http://en.gravatar.com if it’s still not working.

By the way, I should note that these Gravatars function separate from any avatars you have set up in Blogger, Typepad or Wordpress. So just because you have an avatar in one of those it still may not show up elsewhere without a Gravatar

Well, here I am cursing your mad graphics skills once again Brad Ruggles!!!

(does that sound at all like end of cartoon monologing? it’s supposed to)

Seriously though, dude I always love seeing the little extra pieces of artwork you create for posts and such. You have such a keen attention to detail and just a very prominent talent. I work with designers and artists all the time that rarely ever seem as enthused about their art as you seem to be… and consequently, theirs holds much less passion and heart.
