This is the second edition of SMOKING Hot Music! These albums and artists are simmering in my playlist. Some are new, others are old albums I just discovered. Click on any album cover to read my mini-review. I’d love to know what you think.

Special thanks and a little link love for some music friends…

  • Steven Russel for the Joy Whitlock tip. Joy actually goes to Steven’s church. How cool is that?
  • Brody Harper for the Katie Herzig tip and tons of other great music. If Brody recommends something I can almost go out and buy the album without listening to it. Great taste in music.
  • Brian Alexander for the Ryan Star tip (I’m still waiting for your first music video)
  • CJ Mills for being so cool and having musical tastes so similar to me it’s scary (remember CJ, what we have is very special)
  • Reba Baskett turned me on to Brooke Fraser and has awesome taste in music. I would like her more if she didn’t go to so many cool concerts and make me jealous.

Is there new music out there you think is good enough for my SMOKING Hot Music list? Leave a comment with your suggestions.

First of all, I very much agree with Albertine. Great album.
    I don’t know…I’m a big Ryan Adams guy…
The new Seabird album is great.

Oh yeah, and if you haven’t heard Joel & Luke…yeah…better get on that.

@MattHuber - Great recommendations! I clicked through some of the song samples on Seabird and ended up buying the whole album. At $7.99 it’s a steal.

I trying finding a web site for Joel & Luke but couldn’t. Where can I check them out at?

that is a great list, but my only comment is you HAVE TO SEE P.S. I love you!!! You think the sound track is good, the movie is better! My fav. so far this year! (BJ and I BOTH cried!) Hilary Swank rocked, but Harry Conick Jr…. well, I didn’t think that was a good role for him. He was outside of his “bad boy” box, and trying to be a mushy romancer.. ew! LOL… OH and Alanis Morrisette is Always good in my opinion.. :)

    @Brody - Thanks man.

@Lisa - Cool, thanks for the tip. I’ll check him out.

@Cherith - Hold on, you and BJ BOTH cried? Dang, now I’ve got to see it! And I’ve got to harass BJ about that too the next time I see him. ;-)

LOL…Part of my job to go to shows :)

Anyway I am downloading the new live CD from ‘The Bird And The Bee’ that went up on iTunes today. It sounds wonderful! Their album was just so killer and the live version sounds so good.

I will have to check out a few of these albums. There are a 4 I have not heard.

@Reba - Man, I want your job! I bought the new Bird And The Bee album this morning too. Haven’t listened to it all the way through but I like what I’ve heard.

Agreed on the Rufus Wainwright. I first heard him several years ago on a late-night NPR interview. Picked up every album released since. That guy’s creative…

I’ll check out some of the others I haven’t heard of…and when Sara sees the email from iTunes and the totals spent buying these albums…well, I’m sending her your way…

@Brook Ha ha, don’t blame your iTunes spending on me! I’ve got enough spending problems as it is! Don’t you wish they had an iTunes “Frequent Buyer Program?” :-)
