Ok, is this not the coolest desk ever?? Think about the authority you could command in a meeting if you were sitting behind Han Solo frozen in carbonite!

Custom designed by Tom Spina Designs this one-of-a-kind custom Han Solo in carbonite desk was made for Mark Hall (lead singer of Casting Crowns). Just add a Darth Vader costume and you’d be all set. This is definitely going on my “things I would love to own but will probably never get” list. (thanks to my bro for sending me the link)

umm.. I don’t even know what to comment on a desk like that. i kinda creeps me out to look at some dudes face under glass as a desk.
I dont think it would be a funcational/conventional desk. It would be more of and artistic/conversation starter desk.

@Adam What? Of course it wouldn’t be the most functional desk. But who needs function when you’ve got Han Solo frozen in carbonite???

Darn right it would be a conversation starter! The conversation would go something like this:

“Holy crap! What a freaking awesome desk! You are the coolest person I know!”

Back in art school we had an “industrial design” major. The guys and gals in this program were trying to get into the toy industry and or ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) in LA. This was also around the time we were all anticipating Star Wars being re-released into theaters. Well, a bunch of those students recreated star wars props. At the time “Sharper Image” was selling life sized authentic reproductions of Boba Fett, Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers. The Industrial Design department pooled their money bought one each of these reproductions and went to work.

When the first re-release hit the multiplex there in Columbus there were about 30 storm troopers (with guns.. pre 9-11), 3 Vaders and two Boba Fetts at the first screening. They did an incredible job.

@jud - Ha ha, that’s awesome! I remember the Star Wars craze before the first re-release hit the theaters. I probably would have been in a costume myself if I had one. :-)

Glad you liked it. It kicks butt.

But I think to be more accurate, you’d need a Joba the Hut costume. Somehow, though, thats not as cool.

And that one Casting Crowns song could be tweaked to fit this thing…

    “If he is a body,/
    why aren’t his feet going?”

@Jason - lol, yes! I was trying to think of a Casting Crowns song to use for this post but couldn’t think of one. Good one.

Why, just why, help me understand why you would want that? Is it the child still in you or the “I’m different”. Dude, I’d be scared to sit across from you with that!

  12. Brad Ruggles on July 9th, 2008 11:37 am

@Polly Hansen Why? Just because it’s so freaking cool! And it’s Star Wars. And partly the “I’m different” thing. And yes, you should be scared to sit across from this desk. Who wouldn’t? :-)

  13. Jason Ruggles on July 9th, 2008 12:31 pm

In my bro’s defense, this would be AWESOME to have. And it’s not creepy.
What would be creepy would be to have a Princess Leia look-alike chained to the desk.
    But just this? Naw.

Brad.. I’ve never seen anyone so passionate about Star Wars before. Wow..So when are you gonna get the Darth Vadar costume and start your own club?

OK, we are seriously paying casting Crowns too much :)

But this is a very cool desk…in a wonderfully geeky way.

Brad, when you get into your new home you need to treat yourself to a desk like this one…you deserve it! Go for it!

You could have played “Praise you in this storm” on behalf of Hans Solo - Since he is kind of facing a “storm” in his carbonite coffin.
