I think you should buy her a Llama…

Our baby is 10 months and we have 2 dogs and a cat. She loves them soooo much! She gets this humongous smile on her face… I guess she got lucky… Now I just have to teach her to be “gentle” when it comes to touching them because she wants to poke their eyes out, stick her fingers up their noses and (other places I won’t mention) AND she tuggs at their ears really hard! Our eldest dog doesn’t mind… (he’s a cocker spaniel mix). He’s pretty mellow but our little chihuahua is a fire cracker. I’ve had to scold him for snapping at her but I try not to keep them in the same room too much. And I always supervise…

I think it’s better to get them dogs and cats when they get older…. but this is a good step towards responsibility. =)

You are great parents so save yourselves for as long as possible on the pet thing. Larry Joe the rabbit is cute, but every time he hears the sweeper, scream, boom, bang, let’s put it this way he has a sensitive stomach and the outcome STINKS. I love the little creature, but it I could change the past he’d be someone else’s pet.

Kids seldom care for animals like they should. I know this b/c I had 3 pets growing up and according to my mom: Thomas the cat had mange and went to Heaven. Mind you, he was there when I left for school, healthy and w/ all his hair. When I came home he went to see the good Lord????? Abby the Persian Cat had to move out b/c she kept crapping on my sister’s stuff. I gave her extra tuna when she did that Elly the shelty dog, my mom got so tired of her and my dad that she left. So I don’t think I helped out much on the pet thing when I was a kid. If you could see Larry Joe’s cage right now it speaks for itself.

Stick w/ the fish…. they can be flushed and it’s not against the law.

Then we got a bird… and that was huge because I had to clean her cage every Saturday by myself…

Then, when I graduated college (yes, I had to wait THAT long…) I got Palmer, my dog… and I am glad I had to wait. Dogs are a HUGE responsibility… and kinda expensive… I didn’t believe my parents when they were telling me all those things about dogs when I was little… but, now they can definitely say, “I told you so…”

I was probably 3 or 4…I considered our dog “my dog” and our rabit “my rabit” whereas they were really the family pet and I had no responsibility of caring for it.

The only danger with the fish is they are very fragile, they die for no reason at all. We dealt with that when Gavin was around 2. Fortunately, we caught it before he saw it and I was able to go replace the dead fish with an identical one before he even knew a thing! When the next one died, we were not as lucky, but used it as an opportunity to talk about death and going to the “quiet place.”
