Weekend With Friends

This past weekend we made the trip back to our old stomping grounds in Fort Wayne. It’s always fun to head back to the Fort but since we made so many friends during our 5 years there it’s always a packed weekend.

I started out the weekend being able to finally meet my blog buddy CJ Mills. CJ and I go way back…well, about as far back as you can go with a 9-month-old blog. I met him as an early subscriber shortly before they went through an amazingly difficult delivery of their second child. It was awesome to finally meet him even though I’ve yet to meet the little guy we spent so much time praying for.

As we do every time we head up to the Fort, we got together with our good friends Paul & Jayme Lea, the same ones we went on vacation with earlier this year. They are some of the people we feel the most relaxed around and enjoy hanging with. No trip to Fort Wayne is complete without at least a couple of hours with the Leas.

We were also able to see our friend’s baby for the first time. Isn’t she adorable? She totally has the whole Gerber baby thing going on.

One of the main reasons we drove back to Fort Wayne was for our friend’s wedding. Courtney was an awesome helper and part of what we did with the youth group from the beginning. I remember her as a teenager graduating from high school so it was awesome to witness this chapter in her life.

Shortly after the wedding we were able to grab dinner with some very dear friends at one of my favorite FW restaurants – CASA! Tom has got some amazing things in the works with his ministry Barnabas Task and will be joining us in Atlanta for Catalyst and the Bloggers Meetup.

After visiting our old church on Sunday we wrapped up the fun-filled weekedn by celebrating my sister-in-law’s birthday.

My brother makes some of the most amazing food so I was thrilled to learn that we would be enjoying his Mocha Rum cake with home-made Vanilla ice cream for her birthday.

You have to understand, when my brother makes something, he doesn’t just buy cake mixes and throw stuff together. He actually ground his own whole vanilla beans for the ice cream.  Yeah, it was amazing.

So that was my weekend. It was crazy-busy considering how many people we hooked up with while we were there but fun.
