My First Web Site Design

I recently discovered a web site called the Wayback Machine (ht: nickasolas) that has archived over 100 terabytes and 10 billion web pages from 1996 to the present. You’ll find some interesting pieces of Internet history such as the original web sites for Internet Movie Database (Nov. ‘96), NASA (June ‘97) and Yahoo (Dec. ‘96).
You’ll [...]

Our “Do Something” Project

Lisa and I were inspired to put a project into motion by Mandy Thompson’s ‘Do Something’ series of blog posts (Thanks Mandy for the extra kick in the butt those posts provided to get this done).
Since we moved here over the summer we’ve been thinking of small, simple ways we could love and serve the [...]

The Resolve of An Octupus

You don’t have to be an octupus lover to enjoy this short film. Wait, is there such a thing as an octupus lover?

Now That’s Just Mean

French designer Constance Guisset created this unique bird cage that allows your goldfish and canary to be next door neighbors. With the aquarium placed in the middle of the bird cage things become immediately more exciting!

Along the same lines his other design, “Duplex” is a cage topped by a tank designed to promote a visual [...]

For Tomorrow – The TOMS Shoes Story

I just watched the short documentary film For Tomorrow – the TOMS Shoes Story (I originally wrote about TOMS here and here). The film tells the story of how Blake Mycoskie, a former contestant of The Amazing Race, was inspired by the low-cost alpargatas (espadrille-type shoes) he found during a trip to Argentina. He was [...]

Weekend Design Watch

I have to admit, I’m a sucker for contemporary furniture with clean, simple lines. I could walk through an Ikea or Crate&Barrel for hours or buy just about anything from Design Public. The problem is that all the pieces I like are so gosh-darn expensive. So even though I can’t buy most of the stuff [...]

5 Reasons Why You Need to go to Catalyst

Consider this my completely unsolicited plug for the Catalyst event next month. I’ve been a devoted fan of Catalyst since my first event back in 2005. That one experience single-handedly reshaped my perspective on leadership and the church’s influence in culture.
I’m just a blogger writing from my little corner of the blogosphere but if I [...]

  • About Brad

I love my family more than anything but I still struggle to keep my passions and priorities in order. I’m passionate about the Church, its influence on culture, and making it better. I’m constantly challenging the process - examining what I do, why I do it and its relevance in today’s progressive culture. read more
