POSTED IN: Book Reviews

I have a copy of Churched by Matthew Paul Turner that I would like to give away to a lucky reader. This is a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading (read my review) so I’m excited to share it with you.

“Churched” Contest Details:
We’re going to have a little fun with the giveaway. To enter, just leave a comment that starts with “I was/am so churched…” and finish the sentence with true or mostly true details about yourself.

Example: “I’m so churched that I can sing 135 Sunday School songs word-for-word” or “I was so churched that I was wearing clip-on ties to church before I was out of diapers.” Be creative. I’ll pick the best “churched” comment as the winner and announce it here tomorrow.

Ready?

I was/am so churched…

this contest is no fun if you’re like me and didn’t start following Jesus until your 20’s!!! I only went to church like twice, and the last time I only remember an end times video… I wanted nothing to do with you freaks. But now I’m a pastor.

I’m so churched when I was a teen that old ladies thought I was a sweet boy so they baked cookies and brought them in the classroom where I taught first grade Sunday school. This is also the same classroom where I made out with my girlfriend during lock-ins.

I am so churched that I know tons of old-school sunday school songs, didn’t listen to secular music until I was 17, didn’t smoke until I was 18, and gave that up after one week because I felt guilty. I still take notes during sermons and still play ‘Bible Challenge: the Board Game’, which is not all bad. The difference now? I actually have a relationship with God.

Sorry if that was too much…?
