When I was going back to school for my second degree (what was I thinking -- 2 young children, yeesh), my hubby surprised me on my birthaversary one year by getting an overnight babysitter and a hotel downtown.

We had a 3am fire drill, which added to the "excitement," but it was a great time.

Isn't it great when our faults come out like that? Way to feel guilty...lol

I'm glad you had a good time! I've never been to an NFL game either...but I'm the kind of girl that only watches football once a year (go Superbowl!)...=)

The first thing that comes to my mind is a wedding gift from all the office people where I worked when Tim and I got married. We lived in Ball State off-campus housing and didn't have much. I was first surprised by a congrats cake in the breakroom on my last day of work before the wedding. THEN they wheeled in a dolly with a Sauder entertainment center in a box with a big bow on it! One of my friends had tipped them off that it was something we could use, so they all chipped in together and got it for us. I was really touched.

(PS....GO PATRIOTS) :)

OK Brad...glad you got to go to your first game but I at least have to give you a hard time about it being the Colts...I know your in Indy but geeze, the Colts. (easily spoken from a 8-0 Titans Fan who has blocked out the last 4 years of playing the Colts)

Biggest surprise would have to be last Christmas when my sister gave my whole family (Me, Wife and Child) a 7 Day Trip to Disneyland and put us up in a suite at the Grand Californian with butler service. Early passes and even a Princess Dinner for my 5 year old daughter.

All I can say is Wicked Awesome!

Thats awesome. Just know that this house was jealous. (we said hi to you on the tv!)

My favorite surprise was BJ purposing to me. I think what made it so awesome was that his and my whole family where at the church that morning. We were singing a song together that BJ had wrote. I was very delirious to the fact that EVERYONE we knew was there. Anyway, after his song, he very smoothly passed his guitar to me and decided to have a spiritual moment. Which to my dismay, he had talked to Pastor in advanced about, and started talking about love and God loving people and all that jazz.. then all of the sudden it was no longer about Jesus and about ME! I was in so much shock... and the best part is, after he purposed, people thought I said "no"! But really I said oh no.. followed by a million yes's!!!

It was great... he's going to have to get creative to out do that :)

Dude.. thats awesome. Looks like you had a good time.. I went to my first NFL game last season and had a blast.

I think the only time I was surprised was for my Bachelor Party. Other than that I know everything that goes on.

How fun, Brad!!

My favorite surprise was the night Jimmy proposed...or maybe when he gave me my new MacBook.

No, definitely the proposal.

Yeah.

I'm not usually the one getting surprised - I figure things out beforehand... maybe that's because I'm good at pulling them. My best - Thanksgiving '03.

I was living in California - a few days befor someone at church gave me a Southwest voucher to go home for the holidays. My parents were going to be in Indy at my brother's - I decided not to tell anyone.

Thanksgiving morning I'm on BART (train) to go the the airport and I call home. My niece tells me she wishes I was there. I land at midnight - then have to cycle through cell phones to someone to answer - my brother finally does and I ask him if he wants to make S's wish come true.

He gets up to come get me - and mom hears him and gets up. He tells her his boss is in a bar and needs a ride home - she offers to go,too, he refuses. I slept in the (huge) closet that night.

Next morning - I'm going downstairs- my dad sees me. No reaction. Same for mom. They initially thought I was my sis-in-law.

I go upstairs to get in bed with S so I'll be there when she wakes up - I'm pulling the covers from her hands - she wakes up, sees me, rubs her eyes, opens them - then jumps in my arms. She told me I could scare her like that anytime.

I've also pulled coming in for a family reunion surprises, too. Or routing a call through California (caller ID) and talking to my cousin while I'm walking down her street then knocking on her door.
