I've always wondered how some people keep their bald heads so shiny. It must be a skill.

I haven't gotten my hair cut in way too long but when I do, I go to TGF haircutters. The lady that cuts me hair is way too sweet - I don't pay much, but I do tip!

I am married to a hairdresser. She has been doing hair for over 20 years and is a professional. If you find a good barber or hairstylist you should stick with her or him. If they are good it is because they have put in a lot of time to learn their craft.

My wife has customers that drive as far as 300 miles to get their hair done by her. A good hairstylist knows that it is not just a haircut but much more. She realizes that a person can come into the salon in a funk and leave feeling like a new person. She takes her time with her clients and accepts nothing less than perfection on her part.

Sometimes I get frustrated when I hear people "bargan shop" for a good hair cut then complain for the next couple of weeks about how bad it is. I compare bargain shopping for a haircut much like those people who would rather hire a graphic designer from India who is much much cheaper than someone from the U.S., say someone like Brad Ruggles for example, because they just can't see paying more than $15 for a good haircut.

A professional hair stylist is just that, a professional. She or he does not just give a haircut. They make sure you understand what shampoos or conditioners work best for your type of hair. If they are good they will not give you a perm and a color at the same time like a lot of "chain" salons do. If they are good they will offer extra hair treatment to help you keep a good healthy head of hair at no extra charge.

It is more than a haircut with a professional. When you find a good hair stylest keep her or him. Take care of them and they will take of them.

Don't be cheap with them. Remember they are professionals as well, just like each of you in your daily jobs. I bet none of you like it when people pass your services by for a better bargain.

Sorry to rant.......lol On a lighter note - You know what the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is???

Two weeks.........

Cheers...........eric

I've only found one person that cuts my hair right. She moved to Tennessee for about a year and I visited 5 other stylists. She moved back and all is well.

$20 with tip.

Funny this comes up. Today I will be going to the local barber shop. It is run by a couple of old men. So it takes me back to when I used to go with me dad, before my sister started to cut hair. She has been cutting my hair now for about 27 years. But, this time of year is very busy for her and me, so I called yesterday to try to get in today, made an appointment, then realized it wouldn't work due to a orthopedic specialist appointment for my oldest daughter. What is funny is a Barber's cut and a Salon's cut are completely different. Like you Brad, my hair is thick and grows fast. So with this Barber doo, I won't be able to let it go for six weeks, it just does not work. I actually contemplated doing what Themisfit does, but my wife said she doesn't want a seasonal serial killer for Christmas. Yes, she hates when I shave my head, when we lived in NC away from my sister, I could not find a decent cut, so I resorted to shaving occasionally.

I get my kids to cut mine in my bathroom. I bought clippers when I was eighteen and have the kids shave my head once a week. I pay nothing and haven't since I was eighteen.

Like @Bunk, I also am a fan of the old school barber. The shop I go to is run by a couple of ladies but the best thing ever is that the hot towels.

I'm thinking of rawkin the Arthur Ashe doo.. I could totally pull it off like I did in the 80's.. just thinner ... and grayer..
