Prayer On The Run
POSTED IN: Authenticity, Blog Posts, Randomness
Prayer life been lacking lately? Forget your morning quiet time before leaving the house? No worries, just stop at a prayer booth and get your prayer in on the run with this public prayer booth!

Funny, yes. But unfortunately, not as far from the truth as we may think. I just read in Mad Church Disease (which you can pre-order here) the results of a study of the prayer lives of those in ministry.
According to the survey, those most satisfied with their prayer life spend almost an hour praying every day; those least satisfied spent an average of 21 minutes per day. Those most satisfied spend less time making requests and more time being quiet and listening to God; those least satisfied spend a majority of their prayer time making requests.
If I’m being completely honest, I really struggle with my prayer life. I wish it was better than it is. It’s difficult for me to consistently spend time being quiet and listening to God amidst the busyness of life.
What about you? What is your biggest challenge when it comes to prayer and private time?

You’re right…that is it is funny, but sad that it is so true.
For me, personally, prayer is a constant conversation with my God. It is a constant awareness of His presence and His hand in my life. I “shoot up” a quick prayer here and there but mostly it is reflection on His Creation, His blessings, His love and it’s impact on my life, on the lives of those around me and everywhere else I see it. It is constantly being aware that He is God and with me. It makes the relationship.
But, I feel like I don’t listen enough; I don’t stop and be quiet for God enough. Thank you for the reminder, I am going to do it today and see what He shows me.

People say I’m a good listener but to be honest, I suck at listening to God. I’m the talker there. I also suck at being still (and not falling asleep). I have a feeling that if I take time out of my day to actually set aside all the work and distractions and just spend that time devoted in prayer and just being still, I would probably hear Him more. Call it a hunch.
I think I need one of those booths because my current prayer area – my bed – serves best for another function, SLEEP.

For me it is probably not listening efficiently which in turn takes longer to truly hear from GOD

Making a point to get up early and spending that time w/the Lord. With 7 kids, I need to be spending more time on my knees.

That’s definitely something I struggle with sometimes…thanks for the post. What I struggle with more than talking to/listening to God is actually reading His Word. I get lazy there, cuz most of the time it just feels like more homework…even though I know it’s guidelines for my life. Ah well, I’ll work on it.
BTW, I’m holding a can of Sierra Mist right now, and I’ve gotta tell ya, I 100% LOVE the new logo. It totally goes with the name. Just thought I’d poke some fun…lol

[...] Prayer On the Run…GREAT IDEA! Prayer Booth [...]

Funny especially in a society that has become openly unfearful of God and recklessly lawless — but good reminder of how important and needful is prayer (especially in a way similar to how many have found a telephone so helpful in various emergencies).
In a couple of places it is recorded that Christ instructed us to pray always and at every opportunity. He also instructed us that when we pray we should enter into our closet and shut the door and pray to our Father in secret.
This prayer booth in the style of a phone booth sends a good message, but maybe the phone-booth-type prayer place would be better if it more like one of the old English type booths, the bright red ones (not that color would matter), that were completely enclosed and private to comply more closely with Christ’s instruction in Matthew 6:6.
