What We Woke Up To This Morning

What We Woke Up To This Morning

We went to bed with a few snowflakes gently falling and woke up this morning to this.

We had enough snow fall for them to cancel school. Snow day! If you’re not from a part of the country that gets snow days, well, you don’t know what you’re missing. There’s nothing like a day off from school to make snowmen, build forts and go sledding.

It was a snow day like this that I built this igloo for the girls last Winter in Fort Wayne.

What’s your best snow day memory as a kid?

    Beautiful!

    And the igloo rocks.

I wish we had snow like that around here. We get snow showers once or twice but it rarely stick.

    Enjoy!

I loved going to bed one night and everything being dead and gray. Then you wake up after a huge snowfall and everything is coated in white! No tire tracks or footprints… Just white. Then sitting around the radio listening for my school to be closed. Then… It was on!

    Snow? What’s that?
We get a good snow around here maybe every 10 years. The last one is the only one I can remember the most (9 years ago), I got stranded at Nicki’s house (before we got married), and no one could get out of or in their neighborhood because they lived on a dirt road with no shoulder, so cars would end up in the ditch. Nicki’s mom had to walk 2 miles in the snow from the front of their road to their house, their dog got lost, it was a funny day…notice I said day…that’s how long it lasted :)

BTW – I’ve got that brush on Photoshop from your first picture, I wish I had a snow picture to use it on like you did ;-)

My Favorite snow day(s) growing up in Central Indiana involved a lot of sledding at Shadyside Park in Anderson…a great big hill with additional smaller, faster hills to ramp off of and everything…….

Growing up in Canada i had a lot of snow memories….but only 2 snow day memories. we would go to my grandmothers house because right around the corner she had the most insane hill to sled down. The city actually stationed an ambulance at the hill from 8am – 8pm because it was so big and dangerous. We would work on ramps all winter and then at the end of the winter they would be perfect for snow days. hours and hours of fun…and no broken bones for me.

All this talk of snow is making me really miss America and snow days!!

Growing up in Illinois we had our fair share of snow and snow days. I don’t know that I have one that stands out, but something about being outside and then coming back into a warm house was always very comforting!

    Yeah, I miss snow days!!!!

Ummm, I’m pretty sure it’s not legal so I won’t be relaying the details. Let’s just say it involved a car, a water ski tow rope, and a sled.

I’m afraid I’ve already said too much ;-)

I’m from Canada and there is no such thing as a snow day in most of the country. SO i don’t have a memory of a snow day, but I sure would have liked one as a kid.

hummmm…..growing up in NE Ohio with lake effects, we had many snow days so it is hard to pick. I did have a favorite winter! Winter of 76/77. We had a BUNCH of snow that winter and times were tough for many (energy crisis) our family of 6 and my uncle would find timber in woods, saw it up and deliver it to the rich side of town. We made a bunch of money and had LOTS of fun family times and memories that will last a life time. thanks for the trip down memory lane!
RYC on my blog…it does appear by that list that I have done a bunch of things….but then again, there’s still soooooo much more to do. God has blessed me with many wonderful opportunities. I know I have let many pass me by, i’m praying that as i am now almost 42, I will continue to slow down for the things HE wants me to do, and not just what I want to do.
