Invent A New Music Genre

Invent A New Music Genre

These days there are so many great new bands out there with more popping up every day. One of the greatest things is that the lines between music genres are constantly blurring making it increasingly difficult to classify exactly what kind of music it is.

So here’s the question for my music-loving readers…

If you could invent a new music genre or style, what would it be called? Bonus points if you can come up with a name for a band or album that plays this music.

I may or may not have some music to give away to the most creative genre submissions.

Let the awesomeness begin…

The Darby translation of Phil. 4:8 uses the word “amiable.” http://bible.cc/philippians/4-8.htm

I like that word as it represents what we as Christians should be to others. Not judgmental, not thoughtless unacceptance, friendly, kind, forgiving…

So, new music genre? Amiable. Artists? Addison Road, U2 (Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For), Francesca Battistelli, Barlow Girl, Papa Roach (Carry Me), Everclear (Wonderful)…. Artists with words that speak to the soul of me, regardless of reputation or current genre.

    How about this…

    Hardcore Acapella Funk
    or
    DiscoHop (Dico + HipHop)

I’d pay money to see bands playing that.

@David – ChoralTronica…nice! That actually would be kinda sweet. Think how cool these guys would sound if Moby remixed them?

‘Cos I’m not in the US, I can’t see who that iTunes link is meant to take me to…

I’ve some semi-decent attempts at choraltronica, but it’s always been remixing etc. I’d like to do purpose-written stuff … choral music with electronica backings that were always intended to be there.

Sonictron will be the next big thing, it is a genre entirely based on the synthy bass lines of the Killers, and often draws inspiration from Tom DeLonge’s hair.

Pioneering artist Strategic Chaos just dropped their first album: “The Fiddler Fell off the Roof.”

There’s my contribution to the music world.

I’ve decided to name Derek Webb’s new album ‘Conspiracy Rock’. It’s the music you hear when a plan is coming together.
