When I Hear The Praises Start

Keith Green was one of the Great-Granddaddies of contemporary Christian music. If you grew up in Church or listened to Christian radio back in the 80s you would remember some of his songs like You Put This Love In My Heart, O Lord, You’re Beautiful and The Easter Song. He was Christian music’s version of an Elton John.
I can’t remember where I came across this video of Keith Green performing When I Hear The Praises Start from 1982. If you can overlook the afro and 70s music style, there’s a powerful message in this song that resonated with me.

Ironically Brad I almost put Asleep in the Light on my blog this morning. Would that not have been strange…two Keith Green songs in one day. Afro or not. 70s music or not…the dude could write songs that pierced the heart. Thanks for reminding me of this one.

Dude, I love Keith Green still, although I don’t remember this one. I think the Elton John comparison is unfair though. For one, Keith Green wrote good songs. Secondly, the details of their personal life are slightly… different.

dude. this has always been one of my favorite Keith Green songs ever. Lots of folks don’t know about it, but when I went through my Keith Green phase this song was a must-listen every day.

Well isn’t the afro hair coming back in style these days..
I’m a “youngin” but i grew up on Keith Green. He had such an amazing talent for singing the Word of God.

Did he have a song called Tiny Hearts? Our youth group did a skit to that song and I have looked everywhere.
