Considering we spend a third of our life asleep, a high quality, comfortable bed in one of the most important purchases we could make. But let’s face it, today’s beds are typically purchases by and cater to women. Sure, us guys are concerned with how soft or firm the mattress is but are those really the only options we have when making a purchase? Apparently not.

According to a recent article in WSJ more manufacturers are designing beds that cater to guys with features like iPod docks, laptop hookups and retractable flat-screen televisions.

Today, bed options (or “sleep systems” as they’re more appropriately called) range from high-tech to the unique and comfy. Do you sleep best gently swinging in a hammock? The Le Beaonock might be a good alternative to the traditional mattress and bed frame (I don’t see myself ever buying one but man would I love to take a nap in it!).

Or if retractable televisions, iPod docks and individual adjustable mattresses are more your style, the Executive might be for you.

What would your pimped out bed look like?

Since I am a simple man I would love to have a big King size bed made of logs and a mattress that has an adjustable setting for firmness. Nothing fancy since I only sleep about 5 hours a night. That “thing” you have pictured would make me sea sick and I get motion sickness. Not a good thing. :)

That Beaonock swinging hammock looks just the thing to me. You could hang it up outside on a warm night. Hope it would support two people comfortably though…
