This Is Why I’m A Compassion Sponsor
POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Compassion
There were so many amazing moments at Catalyst last week but one moment stands out. This has already been called one of the most powerful moments in Catalyst history. Jimmy Wambua from Kenya met Mark, his Compassion Sponsor of 19 years, for the 1st time on stage. It was an unbelievable moment (Jimmy begins to share at minute 3:45).
Watching this video gets me choked up all over again. THAT is why I’m a Compassion sponsor. One day I’m going to meet our Sabato and the others God will bring into our family through Compassion. I can’t wait to wrap my arms around him and tell him how proud I am of him and how blessed we are to know him.
Sponsorship is so much more than just a $38 check sent out every month. It’s not something I do to feel better about myself. Somewhere out there are Jimmys and Sabatos whose lives depend on what we send in.
If you would like to share a moment like that one day with a child whose life you have invested in, sponsor a child today through Compassion. Your life will never be the same.

nice… my finace and I are both sponsoring children through Mission of Mercy… and yeah, sometimes it can feel like just a $30 “i’m doing my good deed” check, but being able to actually see how much this kid was impacted is really humbling..
really looking forward to meeting Angel in Honduras next summer

this was, by far, the most moving moment at catalyst.
my take away from it may be different from most others. i work hands-on with the “jimmys” of south africa. so this moment resonated with me deeply because it gave me a powerful glimpse at the impact our supporters are making in so many lives. they do more than write a check. or pray a prayer. or send an encouraging email. they are affecting lives. futures. destinies. hearts. and i loved watching that play out before my eyes.
