Wordbinations (They Just Go Together)
POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Culture
Yesterday I posted a Tweet that was supposed to say “What do canned meat, penis enlargement and singing Vikings have in common?” (in reference to this post). Instead I said “penis engagement” thoroughly confusing my followers and prompting questions about exactly what a “penis engagement” was (I have no idea…nor do I want to know).
***by this point in my post I have already used the word “penis” three time (a new record for my blog) and have now doomed myself to showing up in the gutter of search engine results***
I immediately sent out a Tweet apologizing for my Twypo – a new word I coined by combining Twitter + Typo. That’s when I realized that there are tons of great word combinations out there just waiting to be made. Like Twam (Twitter + Spam – those stupid DMs you get on Twitter about teeth whitening) or Tweemail (Twitter + Email – for those annoying people who use Twitter like email).
What’s your favorite word combination that you’ve heard or made up?
Share your wordbination (word + combination) here…maybe we’ll help your fandamtastic word around!

My favorite twitter one is twitterreah…
I cannot state my favorite combination of words because it is actually a little on the rough side…well…ok…
fugly. Not listing the words used. It is kind of like getting to swear without having to use the actual words
I felt a sense of completeness when Scion used it in a add last year. An image of their boxy suv on the screen and then simply the word on the screen. Brilliant.

At church we’ve deemed our prayer area the “prayerea”.
Red Lobster will always be “Robster” to us for some strange reason.
Child Molesters are known as “Chesters”.
My favorite common word combo is “ginormous”…but there’s also “hugantic”.
In high-school I attended some sort of a huge, hillybilly flea market. One of the vendors told me that she had taken “dramastic” measures to offer such low prices on her wares.
Sometimes in my head I think “I’d like to bludgeon that curmudgeon”, which leads to simply “curbludgeoned!!”.

glust [gluhst]
–noun
Gadget lust. As in: I was totally glusting over his new unibody MBP.
chult [chuhlt]
A church cult. As in: Brad invited me to his house on Wednesday. He said they are forming a home church or something. I told him there is no way in Hell I’m joining a chult.

It’s not exactly a word combination…well sorta…more like an acronym.
When either my wife or I are trying to find one another, we’ll text each other this:
wub?
Wub is short for, “where u be?” (in other words, “where are you?”
So, our family kinda created a new word…I guess.
Feel free to use it.

Sometimes as I speak, I somehow invent a whole new word that never existed, yet as the word, or words, pour off my tongue, it is like these words always around. Here is one of my favorite words that just happened one day!
“That was one long, tough hike through snake and alligator infested swamps and barren wastelands that stretched for miles. All I can say is that it was a HORRACIOUS trek!”
HORRACIOUS, [hor-A-shuhs]
adjective. New English slang term combining the term “Horrible” with “Hellacious”. See below for the real words!
hor-ri-ble [hawr-uh-buhl]
adjective 1. causing or tending to cause horror; shockingly dreadful: a horrible sight. 2. extremely unpleasant; deplorable; disgusting: horrible living conditions.
hel-la-cious [he-ley-shuhs]
adjective Slang. 1. remarkable; astonishing: They’re raising a hellacious amount of money in taxes.
2. formidably difficult: We had a hellacious time getting here in the blizzard.
