Dutch Photographer Erwin Olaf recently released a brilliant series of self-portraits entitled “I Wish. I Am. I Will Be”

Time for a little self-examination and honesty. Here’s mine…

I WISH sometimes that I had a lot of money and lived a life of ease and luxury
I AM actually enjoying the life that I’m living right now
I WILL BE dead and buried in 70 years so why do I keep chasing after the things that won’t last?

I WISH I had the six-pack abs and well-toned physique
I AM someone who works behind a computer all day so go figure
I WILL BE as strong and as fit as I have the discipline to be

Your turn…

I Wish…I Am…I Will Be…

ooo… this is a good one!

I WISH I was skinny like I dream about and eating organic with a clean house

I AM very pregnant with no desire to clean and eat healthy

I WILL BE a busy stay-at-home mommy with more kids soon to show down the road but maybe have a cleaner house.

(this, if you can’t tell, is very current feelings…)

    I wish I were a best-selling author.

    I am a blogger.

I will be a best-selling author only if I allow God to radically shape who I am and what I have to offer through Him.

I WISH I could run the 5K at Race for the Cure this fall in honor of my mama, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in November.
I AM an excessively busy college student trying to balance too many hats on my head, who is trying not to be unmotivated in training for this race.
I WILL BE crying as I cross the finish line in October.

    I wish I was a great communicator.
I am a bumbling, stumbling idiot.
I will be as good as God wants me to be.

I WISH, I was an International Traveler, Photographer, Philanthropist, Blogger, Vlogger, Speaker, Business Man Extraordinaire, a Fantastic Friend to All, With no Worries in the World.

I AM, Owner of two business working his butt of to get there. With too much month at the end of the money. Going for lunch . . not out to lunch, luckily . . I think.

I WILL BE, striving towards my goals I set in my own life, hoping they are also God’s goals that He set for my life. In the end I will be at peace. I WILL BE waiting patiently, listening quietly, running the race.

I wish..that i had all the qualities that I think I should have.

I am the man that God has made me to be, and I need to accept it.

I will be striving to be more of what God is calling me to be not what I think I should be.

I wish I was already 100% pursuing the calling God has called for me, but am comforted by what he has allowed me to do already, but trust his timing

I am a blessed man who professionally sells payroll & HR for ADP (if you need payroll give me a shout!!!!)

I will be leading worship someday full time passionately leading the masses in true, honest, heartfelt worship where faith meets reality and the presence of God shakes the roof off…..boom… I could keep on going!

I WISH I could take the world by storm.

I AM in a storm, under an umbrella, standing in a puddle.

I WILL BE in the boat with the one who tells the storm “Peace, be still.”

    Uncharacteristically poetic,

I WISH I was courageously attempting great, selfless things for God.

I AM attempting modest things for God while clinging to many of the comforts, distractions, and safety the world offers.

I WILL BE… ??? It’s up to God and the degree to which I release my grip on the things of this world.

I love my family more than anything but I still struggle to keep my passions and priorities in order. I’m passionate about the Church, its influence on culture, and making it better. I’m constantly challenging the process - examining what I do, why I do it and its relevance in today’s progressive culture. read more
