My New Flowering Tea Pot
POSTED IN: Blog Posts
One of the gifts Lisa got me for Christmas was a beautiful new tea pot, partly because I love tea and partly because she broke my old one (another story for another post). The new tea pot I received is all glass (which I have to admit I’m a little nervous about after my last tea pot’s fate) but what made this set special was the assortment of flowering tea that came with it. The “tea flowers” are hand-wrapped into little tea balls. Add your hot water and the flowers slowly open up.

According to the description on the container, “Primula Flowering Teas are made by artisans in China. The flowering teas are comprised of hand sewn AA grade Green Tea with all natural flowers. The green tea is blended 5 times with jasmine to make for an aromatic scent.”

The pot also comes with a glass infuser for loose-leaf tea (not shown in these pictures).

In addition to the tea flowers being really unique, the tea is amazingly good. It has a light flavor that is complemented perfectly with a little bit of added sweetness (I use Blue Agave Nectar which you can buy online or at your local Whole Foods).

The tea flowers can also be re-used 3 or 4 times. I simply put the used tea flower in a small zip-lock bag and keep it in the fridge in between uses.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a coffee nut. I’m not saying that I’m giving up my French press and fresh-roasted Monsooned Malabar coffee, but I will say that since I’ve gotten this pot and flowering teas I’ve been enjoying a whole lot more tea lately.
What about you…coffee or tea? What is your blend, bean or leaf of choice?

These look fantastic! Never seen anything like it! I’m a tea lover myself (being British it goes with the territory. My favourite is Suki Tea which has become popular as a posh drink in upmarket cafes. : )

Both coffee lovers, my wife and I have recenty embraced the awesome world of loose tea. If you are looking for a less novel, quality selection of teas that supports a small business I suggest theteatable.com
the flowers are nice to look at, but can’t be cheap and in the end it’s all about finding a taste you love that can’t be found in a teabag.

Wow, I’m an avid tea-drinker and fellow tea-lover. I don’t know if I can find this in Finland, but it looks (and I’m sure it tastes) wonderful!

Love my tea… With some Almond Mild and Agave Nectar! This looks really nice and sounds great man. And on the opposite, I’m just now starting to enjoy a good coffee every once in a while.
I order my Tea from teagarden.com or from theteaspot.com –
Some of my favorite teas are:

Also Aveda’s Comfort Tea (which isn’t really tea…) is so good. Highly recommend it!

Does neither work? I can’t stand the taste of coffee and I only drink tea on a very cold day and if my throat is bothering me. I prefer flavored (not coffee) hot chocolate or something ice cold to drink-day or night.

Sondrenched – Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll check theteatable.com out
Kerry – I knew you would chime in on this one. Thanks for the links…I’ll check them out. Have you found any good places to buy loose leaf tea locally here in Indy? Also, what’s “Almond Mild?” Did you mean almond milk?
Bill – Neither? You’re henceforth banned from my blog!

Wow, that looks like a lot of fun. I’m thinking that could be a gift idea for me (to give away) this year.
As for teas, I’ve been rockin’ some Indian black tea. At the moment, I can’t recall exactly what kind it is. It’s used to make chai, but I’ve enjoyed it just lightly sweetened. Mmm, mmm – good!

Seriously Brad…neither. When I do drink hot tea it is green tea with mint. Soothing to the vocal chords and throat. Other than that it is cold all the way.

Another vote for tea!! I have really gotten into teas this year too. Tim found a website where, if you join their birthday list, they will send you a free tea sample the week of your birthday!

I haven’t received mine yet…(but soon!) Their teas are all organic and they use Fair Trade sources when possible.

I totally LOVE this flowering tea thing. It fuses art with food so well. It brings you into a state of Tea Mind.
Up in the mountains of Thailand, they grow tea like CRAZY. And they drink a ton of the stuff. We’ll bring some for you to try when we come back.

Hmmm.. This surely caught my attention. I’m a coffee aficionado myself and not much of a fan of tea but this surely would be a hit during get-togethers. Anyways, nice post.

I ordered the Numi giftset for someone from Amazon… but I’m looking at the 40 oz Primula Teapot for myself now.
It just seems to compliment the tea experience to have something so elegant to see unfold. Along with flavor, hue, warmth and aroma…. something blossoms.
As a former barista… I have pretty particular specifications for my ideal cappuccino and what makes a great cuppa.
In beans I love Mexican Oaxaca Altura.
And hard as they are to find, I prefer a Full-City Roast… to a light, medium, espresso, etc. Yumm!
And just thinking about all that goodness… I think I’ll go get some.
=-)
Oh …and as for teas, …I like Yorkshire Tea.. (taylors of harrowgate), Rose Tea (first colony coffee and tea, co.), Star of Persia (Xanadu Tea)… and loose teas from Sri Lanka … mmmmmmm.
Off for now…
ciao.
