Help Haiti Live

A couple of weeks ago Shaun Groves called to ask me if I was interested in working on a benefit concert he was organizing called Help Haiti Live. Even though my work schedule was full I knew I couldn’t turn down an opportunity to donate my time and talents to help the people of Haiti. HelpHaitiLive.com is a unique benefit event because it will be streamed live over the Internet. I can’t tell you everyone who will be contributing to the concert but I can tell you that some amazing performers are on board. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to support Compassion’s relief work in Haiti.

The first step was to design a logo and branding for the event. I started off by drawing the lettering in Photoshop using my Wacom tablet. I painted the colors inside the letters using these watercolor brushes from Bittbox.

I also tried a variation with the lettering reversed out on a red background:

In the final version of the logo I ended up removing the outline around the lettering, cleaning up the letters and adding some texture and the red/blue of the Haitian flag behind.

Once we finalized the branding, I designed the event web site and handed it off to Ben Stewart for development. This is the final version of the site that goes live today:

Help Haiti Live

Mark your calendars for February 27 for this special event. I’m excited to partner with Compassion International for this event to help the people of Haiti. But don’t wait until February 27, you can click here to give to Compassion’s relief work or text “DISASTER” to 90999 to donate a gift of $10.

Let me know if you ever need some help with writing. Check out wilsoncopywriting.wordpress.com for some of my samples (shameless plug … okay, I am ashamed a little bit).

Looks awesome. I was actually on the website and was struck by how nice it looked, especially knowing that it must have been thrown together pretty quick.

I scrolled down to see who did it and was not at all surprised to see your name there.

    Great work!

So amazed, always look for inspiration to spark your creative minds and the best place to look is in the minds of great artists themselves. It is from their words of wisdom, the world is becoming better each day. Keep it up great work!!
