What is TRUE Worship?

My friends over at City Community Church posted this spoken word piece from their service last weekend and I cannot stop listening to it. This powerful piece was written and performed by Mike Perez to conclude a series entitled [blank].

Wow. Wow.
I’ve often wondered if we need to ban the word “worship” from Christianity these days, and replace it with the word “surrender”. When I say the phrase “Great worship!”, what I really mean is that the band was amazing, and that they sang great songs that gave me tingly feelings. I should be looking at short-term missionaries coming back from Haiti, pointing at them, and saying, “Great worship!”

Well said. I believe “great worship” encompasses all those things – the songs we sing, the trips we take, the time we surrender, the missions we support – these are all acts of worship.

so powerful. i think the most challenging part to me was the line about needing worship to have an amazing return on investment to convince us of its worth.

Awesome prayer and that is what worship is all about connecting with God through sacrifice, experiencing his grace, mercy, his presence and revelation of accepting anyone no matter where they come…..
