Ragamuffin Worship
POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Music
Today’s a special day for my man Carlos Whittaker. Today his album (appropriately titled Ragamuffin Soul) drops on iTunes and in Christian music stores everywhere. Carlos brings his own unique twist to the worship anthems that are being sung in churches across the country. His lyrics are full of grace, forgiveness and redemption.
Gracious Father
Like a child we run
With our arms lifted up
So let the praises riseYou’re the God
of second chances
You’re the God
who still romancesfrom the song God of Second Chances
But come on, this is Carlos Whittaker we’re talking about here. It should come as no surprise that his songs are just as honest and heartfelt as the posts on his amazing blog that so many of us enjoy.
Many of my readers are already fans of RagamuffinSoul.com so I’m hoping you’ve already purchased the album for yourselves (if you haven’t, what are you waiting for?). I’d like to also encourage you to gift the album on iTunes to your church’s worship leader and pastor (just click the arrow next to the album price and select “Gift this album”). There are some great worship anthems that are already spreading like wildfire through churches in our country.
For those of you who already have the album or have been listening to his previous EP, what song means the most to you?

I loved the EP. Favorite was Rain It Down–full of life and genuine energy. I look forward to the album, for sure!

For me, it’s “No Words” that’s messing up my heart right now.
“What can I say that You’ve not heard before….There are no words….”
Wow!

One song that means a lot to me is “I Will Rise” by Chris Tomlin. It is about going to Heaven which means a whole lot to me. Also the song “Knowing You, Jesus” the chorus goes like:
“Knowing you Jesus, knowing you
There is no greater thing,
Your my all, your the best, your my joy my righteousness,
and I love you, Lord”
It’s really pretty. To bad I’m not sure who wrote it

From the EP, my fav is “We Will Worship You”. I mean, “You’re our only hope, for all we have to lose is our very souls”. And “break us of our need for the familiar”! If I’m going to lose my very “ragamuffin” soul, how better than to the God of all creation??
You rock, Los!

I realized I didn’t jump in with my fav…as you could probably tell from the post I love “God of Second Chances.” The lyrics are so right on. I think that song will really connect with a lot of people who need to hear it.

“We Will Worship You” is my favorite, so far. A great prayer to sing in that chorus. Good stuff.
