Monday Mixtape: Seattle Music Mix
POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Monday Mixtape
Since I’m in Seattle today I thought it would be fun to feature some Seattle artists on today’s Monday Mixtape. In addition to some of the more popular grunge rock bands of the 90s (such as Nirvana & Pearl Jam), Seattle is also home to artists like Death Cab for Cutie, Brandi Carlile, Fleet Foxes and Foo Fighters as well as the popular Indie label Sub Pop.
So in honor of Seattle contribution to the music world, here is today’s Monday Mixtape: Seattle Music Mix.

Where’s Poor Old Lu or Aaron Sprinkle or Fair? Early representatives in the Christian subculture of the Seattle influence (more Death Cab than Nirvana, but still…), and of the early Tooth & Nail Records days.

it’s a tie between the fleet foxes and band of horses right now. both of those albums have been getting spun non stop since they came out in my house.

Tim, I guess I never really was that big into Aaron Sprinkle or the other bands you mentioned. And I didn’t even know Tooth & Nail had their roots here in Seattle as well…that’s cool.
Vince, I totally agree. Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses (just realized how animal-centric those names sound when you say them together) are both some of my favs. Especially Band of Horses.

Man. When I think of what Nirvana and U2 did for pulling us out of the 80’s into speaking toward the future, I get jealous. Good stuff. ch:
