A Pencil Artist Makes His Point
POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Creativity
Many artists use pencils to create works of art. For Dalton Ghetti, his pencils are the works of art.
Born in Brazil but now living in Connecticut, Dalton carefully crafts the tips of pencils into amazing micro sculptures. These miniature masterpieces are a side project for the professional carpenter, who has been perfecting this art for the last 25 years. Dalton uses a razor blade, sewing needle, a sculpting knife, a steady hand and lots of patience to meticulously carve the graphite which can take anywhere between a few months to a few years.

Something to think about next time you complain about breaking the tip of your pencil.

Wow. I’ve never seen anything like that. I’m torn between the boot, chair, & hanging heart.
And then there’s the cross in the split one. And …. wow. They are all just so amazing. It makes me think about God as our creator, and how he intricately knits us together. Whew. That’s good stuff.

A friend showed me this a few weeks back! I was blown away at the images on his phone. Seeing them even larger has me mesmerized. I mean, can you imagine how many he has started over, because the lead broke off?? The artistry is absolutely amazing. The interlocking ones are like some kind of puzzle. The alphabet, the ones in the middle of the pencil. They all have me shaking my head!

That might be the most unique thing I have ever seen. Where do you come up with an idea like that? “Oh, hey, check out this cool pencil sculpture I made… out of a pencil.”
That is just incredible. I want to interview this guy for rickyleepotts.com now. Thanks for sharing this Brad, that is some insane talent.
(Hey, can I borrow a pencil?)
