Baby Pangolin: Cute or Creepy?

Baby Pangolin: Cute or Creepy?

POSTED IN: Blog Posts, Cute or Creepy?

Did you know that last Sunday was the traditional “Blessing of the Animals” in Catholic churches to celebrate the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi? This poor little guy could use an extra sprinkle of holy water because he sure doesn’t have much going for him in the looks department.

Do you know what kind of animal this is? If you said an armadillo you would be close, but wrong. It’s called a Pangolin, which comes from the Malay word pengguling (“something that rolls up”). They’re typically found in tropical regions of Africa and Asia.

This newborn Pangolin is being fed from a bottle, which is usually cute in most animals, but then again, it’s covered with scales.

What do you think…baby pangolin: cute or creepy?

I can see my next nightmare already…
ROCK Church turns Catholic and at the first “Blessing of the Animals” I have to pray for this little guy. But, as I reach out to bless it grabs my hand, bites it off and then curls into a ball in the corner while squeeling “I am pretty!”

I think I’ve said too much already. What was the question? Oh… right…

If it was not for my fear of that dream becoming reality, I’d have to say creepy. So, I’ll go with cute for now.

Aw…that baby pangolin is like a combination of a mouse and a rhino =) It’s cute though. What does a pangolin eat? Is it related to the ant-eater?

This is a great and interesting post. Your pengguling animal look very cute even if I don’t know much about animals arena (I am PLV design / metal artist in France). Is it a pet or wild one? Anyway, I vote cute :-)

    Hi Brad,
Interesting!! It is scaly but it’s little eyes are watering and it seems to be holding on to the hand that is feeding it. I think I vote ‘cute in a creepy kind of way’. Thanks so much for sharing.
