My Emily: Born To Create Drama

My Emily: Born To Create Drama

I came across this British commercial for the Young Directors Award that is given out by the Commercial Film Producers of Europe. As soon as I saw it I immediately showed it to Lisa and asked, “Who does that little girl remind you of?” Without even pausing she said, “Yup, that’s Emily.”

If my Emily had a motto for her life it could definitely be, “born to create drama.” She loves to stir the pot and keep us on our toes. When she was six, she once told some friends she was staying with that Lisa and I locked her in a cage. Honestly, I count ourselves fortunate that one of her stories hasn’t sent Child Protective Services knocking on our door.

Do you have a child, sibling or spouse that was “born to create drama?”

Hilarious and I SOOOOO relate. My oldest told his Kindergarten teacher at the Christian school we locked him in a cage at night. I would have liked to after that :) He is now 19—the drama came and went, and still appears periodically, but he is growing into a good man. Happy parenting!

Whew, good to know we’re not the only parents who lock their children in cages! :-)

    My middle child.

    Oh, my.

I still remember when I had to carry her out of Target with her over my shoulder and attempting to kick me while screaming, “YOU AREN’T MY MUM! THIS IS NOT MY MOTHER!”

She challenges me on a daily basis but is the first of my child to climb in bed and snuggle, too.

My son is this way. Mainly because he is so stubborn & wants things his way. It wears me out & I constantly remind myself he is a gift from God.

I immediately thought of this thought from a song posted by Jama F about their little LUCY: ‎”I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
But she’s just like a maze, where all of the walls are continually changed
And I’ve done all I can …To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands…” Afternoon with Lucy :)

…hahaha! And the story where Luke says: “Lucy came with me to the at&t store to get a new phone. As soon as we sat down she perks up and says “My daddy threw his phone and broke it”… then she started calling the person helping me “officer” and ask if I was in trouble again… we had a little talk about being a TEAM when we got home…

What cute stories! Oh to love your little Ems!

Something similar happened to me when I volunteered to pick-up my granddaughter from Sunday School class. The teacher handed me some papers and then told Delilah to be sure to tell Daddy about someone (I can’t remember … lets say Noah).

Delilah practically yells, “He’s not my daddy!”

I could feel every adult eye turn on me.

It is rightly said that child is the father of the man or in this video little girl is the mother of the woman. What are kids if there is no such intelligent but innocent drama to be seen?!

Oh, my! CPS can act by taking a child away and sort it out later, so it is always of concern when children stretch it and make up stories.

Reminds me of a neice, who gets it from her mother who is a drama queen.

Neice lives with the father now, so here is hoping my neice grows out of it.

I have the funniest story about a friend of mines’ 7 year old daughter who he was just about to send over to a friends place for the day…

He was walking past the bathroom and she turned around at that moment, walked towards him and said “Dad, I’m going to need some spending money and I need it now.”

Lol I was in hysterics as you can imagine!
