Baby Pangolin: Cute or Creepy?

Did you know that last Sunday was the traditional “Blessing of the Animals” in Catholic churches to celebrate the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi? This poor little guy could use an extra sprinkle of holy water because he sure doesn’t have much going for him in the looks department.

Do you know what kind of animal this is? If you said an armadillo you would be close, but wrong. It’s called a Pangolin, which comes from the Malay word pengguling (“something that rolls up”). They’re typically found in tropical regions of Africa and Asia.

This newborn Pangolin is being fed from a bottle, which is usually cute in most animals, but then again, it’s covered with scales.

It’s Monday again which means another weekend has come and gone while I blinked my eyes. Let’s exercise our groggy brains and start out this week with a simple question that we haven’t asked around here in a while…cute or creepy? (click here to view previous “cute or creepy” posts)

Most people would say that baby monkeys are cute but this little guy has a pretty interesting face and a little bit of a bad hair day, not to mention the fact that he has the whole Benjamin Button thing going on.

Hairless Dog: Cute or Creepy?

My girls have been begging for a dog for a couple of years now. Since we moved down to Indy we haven’t really had the yard, time or patience to consider adding a canine companion to our life. Lately Chloe has been showing more responsibility so we’ve finally begun the process of looking for a dog. It started with a trip to the Animal Shelter last weekend to learn about the cost and requirements.

Chloe has been researching dog breeds online and already has a few breeds she loves. I’ve been telling the girls that I’m going to find an ugly, hairless dog to bring home and that we’re going to name it “butt-head.” I usually get lots of sighs, groans and eye-rolling (and usually a nasty look from Lisa)…we’ll see who’s rolling their eyes when I bring home a dog like this:

I know there are some die-hard dog-lovers out there but seriously? When I found this dog pic I knew it was time for another Cute-Or-Creepy post.

Doggy Kisses: Cute or Creepy?

I know there are dog lovers out there who give their dogs kisses every day and think nothing of it. In fact, you may even prefer your canine companionship to your fellow humans. Then there are those of you who, like me, throw up a little in their mouth whenever you see someone kissing their dog on the mouth.

My rule of thumb is never let anything kiss you on the lips that licks its own butt. But hey, that’s just me. I’m kinda silly about stuff like that.

There’s nothing creepy about these guys. I mean, come on! Who wouldn’t want to wake up in the morning and see two little rat heads poking out from underneath the bed? Don’t tell Lisa, but I’m thinking about buying her a pair for Christmas. I’m not even going to wrap them. I’ll just lay them on top of the blankets by her head when she wakes up on Christmas morning.

I kinda think this little guy is just faking surprise. It’s like someone just told him, “Hey little monkey, did you hear Microsoft just came out with a new model of Zune?” And he is like, “Really? Oh my gosh! I need to get my little primate butt over to Best Buy and get one before they’re all sold out!”

Maybe it’s his how he’s mocking me with his eyes that’s upsetting…or the fact that he has better teeth than I do…
